So you are about to deposit a little sum of money to play some poker at the weekend? Lets say you deposit 200$. What games could you play? Of course it depends where are you heading with that deposit.

Well if you want to have something left in your account after a weekend your limits could be...

for fixed limit: 0.25$/0.50$ or 0.50$/1$
for no limit: 0.05$/0.10$ or 0.10$/0.25$

Aiming for sky limits (biggest tables in your room)? Now you are about to go broke or with a little luck you build a decent bankroll to play for...

Sometimes I like to make this "double or an other" style. I start in nl10 with a 3.30$ buy-in (dunno why 3.30$, but something weird like that). When I got the 20% buy-in for the next stage I move up. Like when I have 5$ I'm going to nl25, 10$ -> nl50. I also make a final point somewhere. Mainly 1,000$. Lots of fun with a small investment. 200$ would be too much for me to start with, but maybe not for you.

Some people play no limit 0.02$/0.04$ with a decent bankroll management. With like 80$. I don't like that. Well it's a good training, but I think that's waste of time (and money). I have a friend who I teached to play no limit and he started with 80$ deposit going straight to nl10/nl25. Now his bankroll is over 1,000$ and he's still playing nl25. So he took a slight risk in the beginning, but I think he learned much more about poker playing bigger stakes and now he don't have to waste his time with games that have no direction.

I'm playing no limit with 50+ buy-ins and fixed with 1000BB+. That's pretty secure :)

Hello all!

First of all sorry about my "intuitive" english. I've born in Scandinavia. I hope you can catch a word here and there to make your reading as simple as you can. Now tell me how many mistakes there is in the first sentence... Schiet, lets go on...

In this blog I'm going to tell you about small stakes online poker. I've been playing since the end of 2005. First I used to play sports betting at betfair.com, but finally I went to play poker and found it much more competitive. I lost my small deposit, 50$. Made a new one for 25$ at another poker room and that was the start of my "bankomat" (bankroll). At the moment my bankroll contains four digits. Mostly I find myself playing no limit 0.50$/1$ or fixed limit 2$/4$.
